Sometimes, the most beautiful stories come from unexpected turns—and that’s exactly how our beloved Max came into our lives.
Back in the midst of the 2020 COVID pandemic, when the world felt uncertain and hearts longed for connection, a little terrier named Max was found wandering the streets. A kind-hearted employee at the Humane Society rescued him, and that’s where our story begins.
The Dog That Stole Our Hearts
When we first saw Max, something just clicked. He had that scruffy charm, sparkling eyes, and a wagging tail that felt like home. We immediately submitted an adoption application—but our hearts sank when we learned someone else had been approved to adopt him. Determined to find a furry friend, we applied for another dog.
Fast forward a few days later, we walked into the Humane Society to meet the other pup. But there he was—Max, still waiting.
I asked, with hope, “Is Max still available?”
The employee nodded. “Yes, the previous adopter backed out after learning he had heartworm.”
Without hesitation, we knew what we had to do. Max was meant to be ours. We adopted him that very day—August 13, 2020—and began his heartworm treatment immediately. Since then, he’s been healthy, happy, and on preventive care.
From the Streets to the Heart of Our Home
Max is more than just a pet—he’s family. He’s fun, chill, and loves everyone he meets (especially if they have treats). Whether it’s snuggling on the couch or hopping in the car for an impromptu adventure, Max is always ready to explore. His joy is contagious, his loyalty unmatched, and his love? Pure magic.
We believe Max found us when we needed him most—and we needed each other.
