Max wasn’t always the playful, cuddly muse behind Dopamine Bee. His journey began on the streets, alone and without a home, until a kind employee from the Humane Society spotted him and brought him in. They named him Garanimal, and although that name didn’t stick, his charm definitely did.
But life threw Max a curveball — a potential adopter backed out after learning he had heartworm. It broke our hearts to hear he was passed over again… but that twist of fate opened the door for us. We had already applied to adopt him, but were initially turned down because someone else had claimed him first. When that fell through, we got the call — Max could be ours. And just like that, everything changed.
He came into our lives during the hard days of COVID, when the world was uncertain and hope felt distant. But Max—scruffy, wide-eyed, and wearing a cone from his recent neutering—walked into our home and brought light back with him. That moment, we renamed him Max — yes, after Max Verstappen, because we’re huge racing fans!
On the ride home, nervous but brave, Max peed on his new dad. A bold (and wet) introduction — maybe his way of saying, “You’re mine now.” From that moment on, he stole our pillows, then our bed, and eventually… our hearts.
Max is sweet, snuggly, loyal, and adventurous. He’s our road trip buddy, our office assistant, our daily dose of joy. He inspired the heart of Dopamine Bee — a brand born from love, pawsitivity, and second chances.
